Make it "Cool"
For this Charrette, we were given the task of taking a 20' - long CMU facade and making it "Cool". For this "cool" facade, I've designed 100 separated laminated plywood panels, each with unique profiles. The diversity within the profiles create seating areas, as well as shading devices for passersby. There are openings for the window & door within the facade, and the panels are deep enough to allow sunlight to penetrate the facade's interior. A green wall is between the plywood and the CMU, allowing vegetation to grow within the panels as well as introducing a sense of natural elements within the urban context of the project. Metal shading devices are installed along the top of the panels, creating shading devices and surfaces for plants to grow. The project was designed & rendered in approximately 6 hours.
